If your rat looks like Stevie Wonder, he's not singing.

Some rats will sway their heads from side to side. This swaying behavior, you will notice, is more prominent in albino rats, or in rats with red eyes. Rats with ruby colored eyes also exhibit this swaying habit fairly often and sometimes rats with brown eyes will sway occasionally as well. They are doing this because they are trying to see or focus on something. As I'm sure you know, rats have pretty poor vision which is compensated for by their keen sense of hearing and keen sense of smell. They can see, however, at least somewhat, but rats with pink and ruby eyes can see even less. That is why rats sway back and forth as if they were in a trance.
